Seiji
Carpenter is currently working on strategy and messaging for the Obama White
House, a continuation of his work during the Obama For America campaign. Prior to
that, Seiji was an organizer with the League of Pissed Off Voters in the 2004
election before his post-election travel intersected with the Tsunami in Thailand.
In Southern Thailand, he worked with a local
NGO to build a volunteer center to assist with rebuilding the region. Before
returning to the U.S. to
work on the Obama campaign, he did communications for Thailand's democracy movement, and helped
conduct virtual trainings for local health workers in Southern
Africa.
Before that though, Seiji got his real education working on Students Against
Sweatshops and Living Wage campaigns at Northwestern University.
After graduating with a degree resembling policy, he completed the Coro Public
Affairs Fellowship in San Francisco,
before joining the progressive polling firm, David Binder Research, where he
currently works. Besides the Obama White House, current projects include a plan
to reinstate marriage equality in California
and the bid to reinstate San Francisco
as a sanctuary city. Side interests include Flavorpill, where he writes about
music.
